Super stuck gimbal bearing in Mercruiser Pre-Alpha -- is there a clip?

i haven't seen the clip before, but is there something there at the 1:00 position?

Here's a picture of the bearing held in by the clip.
It's not a good picture but the ends of the clips are at 11:00 and 1:00 with a gap in between.
What nola mike is referring to is the slot to tilt and remove the inner bearing.

Just a gimbal bearing no snap ring clip there. You do have a lot of corrosion there, I hope your bellows seals okay. Down the bottom from about 5 o'clock to about 8 o'clock that flange looks thin. How rusted were the universal joints? That thing is going to need some cleaning before gluing.

thanks all. planning to clean, no problems with the bellows at the moment (but also anticipating some issues eventually for sure, because the pictures are pretty accurate, there's a lot of corrosion).
Any other tips to getting the bearing out? I was really expecting a clip, I'm having a hard time believing that HOURs of heat and banging with a slide hammer and entire BOTTLEs of penetrating oil can't loosen a bearing!! If not other tips, I'll just hope that the bearing puller tool does something that the slide hammer can't...

I'm betting it will. Slow, steady force vs. quick bursts of impact force.
