Democrat, Joe Lieberman lost the Democratic Primary in Conn. I'm sure most of you already know this. The why part is of interest though. He supported W taking us into Iraq. Supporting W, what a career killer.

I knew W destroyed many a republican career, but wow.

I think we will now begin to see even more politicians becoming more aggressive in an attempt to create as much distance between themselves and W and the war as possible. I think America has a better memory than that though. We will see. It will be very interesting between now and the elections in Nov.

America didn't choose Lamont over Lieberman, the delegates for the Connecticut Democrats did. I think that most Democrats have been trying to distance themselves from W for years...that's the breaks of a bipartisan system. Nothing will change; it's been the SSDD in American politics for as long as anyone can remember.

I'm not for our country being in Iraq, I never thought we should have gone and I don't think anything good will come of our being there. However, I liked Lieberman because he held his stance and didn't cave into pressure on this subject. We need leaders who stand up for what they believe and don't just tow the party line.

Lamont's a punk and he ran a punk's campaign, but I wouldn't have voted for either one of them.

LFK, in all honesty, I know nothing of Lamont. If he is as you describe, I believe that speaks volumes concerning change.

I also believe there is a huge difference between "caving to pressure," and the realization that huge misrepresentations have been made.

Whats the point, he will run as an independant and win anyways by what is probably a similiar margin. He voted 90% of the time along party lines, but I guess even so much as 10% of individual thought will get you bounced. Big tent, eh?d

It would be easy to believe. He keeps standing up for the corporations, oil companies, and big government contractors like Hally Burton, while raising our national deficit to an all time high.. I would love to give him credit for being true to himself, but we all know Bush is a puppet with someone’s (Chaney?) hand up his ass.

Lieberman lost because he slept with Bush. Dems in this state are up in arms. The GOP in Ct has been so corrupt Ex- Govenor Rowland{R} was just released from federal prison 2 more ex-mayors of major cities {Waterbury and New Haven} are still doing time for stuff they pulled while in office. I think Lieberman will win the seat as a{I} canadate there no talk what so ever of a GOP canadate..... What the local news is saying they think alot of GOP voter will vote for Lieberman to keep Lamont out.......Ted from CT

I'm not sure what it means, exactly, but Lieberman continued to the end to take the unrealistic W line that all was well in Iraq.

Dems don't agree on what to do at this point, but most agree the whole thing was handled and executed miserably. Had Lieberman been critical enough (as many have been, including many R's) He probably would have won.

To me this is more of an indication that the democratic core is moving farther left. If DailyKos, Michael Moore, and Barbra S is the type of party you want, this is good sign for you. These folks are rabid in their hatred of GW and any seam whatsoever they can exploit at whatever cost is justified.

Lieberman is a good man. I think the type the dem party could use more of. I may not agree with his positions, but at least his approach to office is not to "get Bush".

I think it is an American right to say you diagreed with the War. But I also think it is irresponsible to advocate us to cut and run. As Americans we need to see this to the end. We have already won. We just need to fisnish it. The division the left is driving is simply to win elections. If they were acting in the best interests of the country, they would be back a strong finish to this conflict, regardless of who started it.

Lieberman's loss is a shinning beacon of the democrats deep movement to the far left. The primary is an indication of the desperation of the anti war movement.
Cut and run at any cost, Distance yourself from the realities of the cause of the middle east conflict. It doesn't taste good. Better change flavors, something more palatable would help you feel better.
America as a hole is not that gullible or naive.
The centralist's and the right are not casting ballots in this display of weakness.. You best have your dance now. When the real test comes, you will prove to be weaker than you appear to be now.
Muslims love you. They may get a chance to show you one day soon. Check your hair, and your bank accounts. After all you liberals know what is really important.

I agree. Big loss for mainstream normal American democrats. 99% of the dems I know are normal, rational, good people.
