It has nothing to do with what is right.

It has everything to do with getting elected by brainwashed voters.

Joe is one Dem I could vote for.

Agree and would add that both parties would be better off with more like him.

Agree with both

Quote:I think we will now begin to see even more politicians becoming more aggressive in an attempt to create as much distance between themselves and W and the war as possible. I think America has a better memory than that though. We will see. It will be very interesting between now and the elections in Nov.

Yes I remember when the dems voted for it and the funding....but I would'nt say most people remember obviously....maybe just the RIGHT people....LOL

I agree although they're sooooo confused. How can those same sane people support a party that actually listens and caves to Michael Moore, Jesse Jackson, Howard Dean etc. etc. These goof balls make Hillary look (seem) good. No question there are some loonies on the right too, but at least they are not hell bent on ruining this country.

QC,99% of the Dems I know would probably total about 30 people. They're old school dems, not the nutjob types. Most are combat vets at the American Legion and a few good customers.

I don't think that small of a sampling can steer the party one way or the other. They still think it's the party of FDR and JFK.

I just wish all these good conservatives on this board, and everywhere else, would *demonstrate* how wonderful these right wing policies are, instead of incessantly *telling* us how wonderful they are.

I want to be convinced, but I need some real evidence!

I would have to disagree QC. We don't have to look very far either. W is doing quite a bang up job in my opinion.
Thousands dead, and many still dying daily, and for what? Somebody please answer "for what?" What are we doing to stop Americans from dying? I will answer that one for you...nothing. We are simply sitting back waiting for "the enemy" to run out of suicide bombers. This administration could not take the most powerful armed forces into a 3rd world country and destroy the "enemy." They "shocked and awed" us though, and that "shock and aw" continues today.

We have already been shown the purple fingers of freedom...mission accomplished, right?

QC, who is hell bent on ruining this country from the left. After you give names, show some examples of where they have proven to be detrimentle to this country.

I gave names, they have influence and that blows my mind. Again, like Alden, I have a hard time understanding how rational people (you and PW) can rabidly support a party who has Michael Moore sitting next to Jimmy Carter at their national convention.

I'm not going to enter into a big debate CJY. I am not happy with the current situation in Iraq, but I believe we went for the right reasons and aren't leaving for the right reasons.

PW2,

I have been consistent on this, but I'll make it very simple. The left in this country and especially in Europe believe that defining right from wrong is the beginning of worldwide problems instead of the end. So I vote with the guys who are willing to say so and believe it. Lieberman is one of those guys. Beyond that, I believe that polarization is a good thing. I don't want more intrusion, power or legislation from our Gov't.

If this is a north vs south thing, than I for one am glad I live in the north. Without any sisters in my family, if I lived in the south my clan would die out, and that would be sad.

Re: Support W, and America will kick you out!

QC, yes I got the names. I guess what I had greater interest in was how they are a detriment to our country. Michael Moore, what detriment is he to the USA. He is critical...so what? Even if he was influencing Carter, so what again? I thought he was no longer in office. Moore's only influence is on the people. Not everyone sees that as a detriment. Some are influenced by Moore, while others are influenced by Rush. By the way, I believe Rush is as critical as anyone of the Democrats. That is ok though. Both sides believe what they are saying, and they have a right to say it. Do you also call Rush a detriment? Besides being on different sides of the fence, what they do is one in the same.

QC, I have stated many times I am not a necessarily a democrat. I vote for people. Always have , always will. In fact, I have voted 4 republicans to 3 democrats since Reagan ran for his second term.

W said he would unite the USA. Another bang up job, I would say.

JRJ, you said

"GQ, care to guess what I might do if you encourage your son's friends to throw a ball through my window? (assuming the keepers don't get you first) "

If that is an analogy to Iraq telling OBL what he and Al Q should and should not do, there is no proof of that. Just more intelligence that is also wrong for all we know. Has W not come out to say they are different entities? On the other hand, if that was your response w/o any analogous meaning, good one.

I kind of like lieberman, he makes his mind up and don’t stick his finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. Lieberman also has a long history of pursuing his own course on issues other than Iraq.

He angered many Democrats by attacking Bill Clinton at the height of the Lewinsky affair, though that speech probably did more than anything to get him on to the ticket in 2000.I was with him on that one.

He supported federal intervention in the case of Terri Schiavo, a woman in a persistent vegetative state whose family battled over switching off life support. That is what I would want if I were in that state.

Lieberman is not the only pro-war Democratic senator running for re-election this autumn, so why all the fuss on an election in Ct?

There are two things that I strongly disagree with Lieberman about, him backing Bush on going into Iraq, that is the big one, and he was one of the first to capitulate in the electoral standoff with Bush in Florida in 2000.

Now here is where it is getting interesting, the poll shows [Lieberman] leading a three-way race with the support of 51 percent of likely voters, compared to 27 percent for Lamont and 9 percent for Republican Alan Schlesinger. If people think the three-term Senator is a thorn in their sides now, wait until they get a load of him when he don’t need support from anybody.
