Supposed to be a 96 50hp Evinrude

The plate is unreadable, but I got this number off the freeze plug: G2982985, there is also a number on the arm that hangs on the transom of: 189829.

This is supposed to be a 1996 Evinrude 50hp short shaft. But I can find no info on this thing at all. Any suggestions?

post a picture , with the cover and without. once they went away from the metal tags, it was easy to ruin the identification tag.

the graphics on the cover, and the cover itself, go a long way to telling the year, then the carbs can tell us sometimes...
