Well, ending the abortion murders will probably add members to the left, which seems counterproductive to the right, but please carry on.

Don't try to discredit it by using some anti-religion defense. When you kill a human being, it's murder.
The fact that you lack a conscience or the ability to tell right from wrong does not lessen the fact that babies are murdered by pathetic selfish human beings.
Well, Frog, I guess that I don't agree with your perception of 'right & wrong'.......
I believe it should be the mother's choice of what happens to her body, not anyone else's.........
For me to presume anything else would be unconscienable, IMHO....
With all due respect, I hear ya, I just don't agree with you......:)
HMMMMM.....& they say that Lib's let emotions rule over common sense.......

Haut, you never answer the question of whether a baby who is 90% outside of the mothers womb is alive.
Don't throw the "emotions" thing at me... I don't throw that at you :)

Well, you know where I stand, however, if you haven't made up your mind in 13 weeks......
Well.......

I don't think you should have a choice anymore......;)
I said it way back here......;)
13 weeks is where I choose to draw the line......
Yes, that is my arbitrary belief.....:)

To state it clearly.....
I think a woman should have a choice up to a certain point......
If a woman is waffling about whether to abort or not 13 weeks should be sufficient time to make a decision......
I think that partial birth abortion is wrong & should go away.....;)

You and I are closer together than we are apart. I don't know when (I admit that I am stating my personal opinion mixed with a little warm fuzzy liberal logic)I think a fetus becomes a human life. I do think that 13 weeks is well beyond that point. Whew... we can still be friends.... :)

I notice it's almost all self-righteous MEN posting their opinions...
Not just men. Lots of FATHERS amoung the membership too, (and some muthas too).... And even a few children lucky enough to have been taken to full-term.
'magine that!

Re: Supreme Court upholds first nationwide ban on an abortion procedure

I think in sorts, it comes down to semantics. Why kill the baby by cutting the head off after partial birth? I think the law may say that the baby has not yet been born. Therefore, in the eyes of the law, life has not yet begun. Hence, it is not called murder and is therefore legal. By law standards, anyway.

If the baby is delivered, then killed, well then the law calls it murder.

I guess the real argument then changes to, when does life begin? Obviously some believe at conception while others believe at birth. Right now, the law says life begins at birth. That will have to change to outlaw abortion.

So according to what you stated, the muderer (or abortion dr., same thing to me) can not be charged with the unborn childs death. By law, as you state, it is not a human until the child is born. So how can he be charged with 2 counts of murder?

And if a doctor says I should saw off your head to cure my gas... you want the courts to stay out of it?

Don't use that worn out "ask the doctor" bs. They are not gods, they're people. And they murder innocent children. They could just as easily let the baby live as it saw its head off.

Neither you, nor I, are qualified to make that determination. We put doctors in the position of making life and death decisions for us all the time. No doubt, they are mere people, and can make flawed decisions.

Still, all things considered, if it were my wife and her life at risk, I would rather have the decision in the hands of a doctor, and not some politician.

You just keep dancing around the issue. How do you know what I am qualified to answer? And since when does anyone need to be qualified to make a moral decision. Stop being a wuss and tell me why you think it is ok to saw off a babies head? Just admit that you don't care if a baby is murdered, you'd rather have your social life intact.

PW,
In your own words please define, or describe "partial birth abortion" as you understand it.
I think there may be some confusion about this procedure that has you defending it.

This is your definition of the issue, not mine.

I am willing to concede that there *may* be times during the pregnancy and childbirth process that for whatever reason it may be necessary to terminate a pregnacy in order to save a mother's life. I am not an OB/GYN, and I do not know how often, if ever, that can happen. But if it can happen, then I would prefer the ultimate decision to be in the hands of a doctor, and not a politician. I would favor a ban on late term abortions, if that exception was in place. We have medical ethics boards to review these cases.

As it stands now, there are no circumstances where this proceedure is acceptable, and that is what I object to. How the proceedure may be done is irrelevant. Dead is dead.

I am going to bow out now. I think I made my feelings clear (OMR hates those fuzzy things...). I suppose I've alienated enough people already and don't feel like losing anymore "friends" over it.

And you're right- dead is dead. That's my whole problem.
