Surely not

I've got a '92 Marada bowrider that I'm needing to remove some interior pieces. First is the bow seatbacks. Had the left coushin become loose and upon inspection there's not much left of the wood backing. I can't find how these are attached.. After searching posts on this site I found where they could be screws hidden inside a seam but if not surely they didn't attach them from the back before they put the cap on the boat. Other part I'm needing off are the side panels from the console back. Need to do some rewiring. It attaches to the floor at the bottom with a support but there's no other sign of screws the top. I'm again hoping these aren't screwed from the back because there's no way to get to them. Anybody out there with an older boat than can chime in on removal of these parts I'd greatly appreciate it.

Re: Surely not

Welcome to iboats.

Yes panels have hidden bolts, screws or clamps. If the wood is trashed and you are going to replace it......just slowly pry one off.

When you do re-wiring be sure to use MARINE GRADE wire.

Re: Surely not

Thanks for the welcome and the wiring tip. I found a website in another post for genuinedealz.com to get all the marine grade wiring. Seems like they have some really good prices so I'll probably get it through them. I'm thinking of replacing gauges this spring and figure it makes sense to replace the 20 year old wiring with it.

Re: Surely not

I purchased all my wire at a local Interstate Battery Store who had the absolute best prices. I support my local merchants first then go elsewhere if I need too. See if you have an interstate store ;)

Re: Surely not

chances are the panels are not screwed in fro the back side.......look for folds in the uph.......seams.....if not.....chances are ....they just pry off using plastic parts.

pop a section loose .....then look for the next place its connected......thats where the screw is !

Re: Surely not

Sometimes those bolsters and cushions are "clipped" in place..

Try to pull them straight up ( like taking a picture off a wall motion ).

Re: Surely not

I got the front seat off and am in the process of replacing the wood backing... ended up being five screws tucked in a seam. Cant get to the side panels until I get the boat pulled out of the shed. Ceiling is to low to raise the wakeboard tower enough to move around. But I had tried pulling on the top of those side panels and they wouldnt pull out a bit so it could be they are clipped in. That will have to wait until it warms up a bit though. Thanks for the help! Im learning really quickly that id never have the patience to do upholstery for a living, but its definatly a learning experience.

Upholstery is like any thing else, the more you do the better you get. Have you watched a pro work before? They dont even seem to be looking at what they are doing and its great. I will never be a pro but it is fun to tinker at.

Good to know Interstate Battery is a source for marine grade wire, never thought of them. And good for you, I too support local merchants when I can, even if the price is just a little more.
