Suziki Engine RPM Increase (not on purpose)

Suzuki 1999 DT-85

When moving throttle forward slowly and reach about 2,200 rpm enginge speed increases rapidly. Don't know how high it would go but pull back when it reaches 4,000-4,500 rpm. When throttle is pulled back goes back to idle fine.

Any thoughts on what could cause this run up?

Sounds like a spun prop hub.

You're right, based on my post. Failed to mention that am running motor in the garage (with water hose connected.)
