Suzuki 150hp 2 stroke what year?

hi guys,
Seeing as my '77 mercury 115hp seized up on the weekend, i'm weighing up my options comparing rebuilding to buying another newer outboard.
i priced pistons today at a whopping $220 per piston. this puts my rebuilding cost along with rings and gaskets at around $1800!
i had a quick look today at a 150hp suzuki. it has oil injection and the whole motor/covers is a light gold colour. I'm wondering about how old this would be if anyone has any idea or do i have to have a serial number?
i can have this motor for $1650
thoughts?

you would need the serial number to be able to determine the year ....

I can say my 87 Suzi 150 SS is a good motor, runs stong. As to color of motor, could be any year, but for the price that ain't bad if its same year range as mine, doubtful its from the nineties at that price unless its a steal, literally.

According to another IBoat message board that I stumbled on to, the year of your outboard can be determined by the last letter in the serial #.

Suzuki Serial Numbers
With Suzuki model numbers, the last letter indicates the year.



D 1983 M 1991 X 1999
E 1984 N 1992 Y 2000
F 1985 P 1993 K1 2001
G 1986 R 1994 K2 2002
H 1987 S 1995 K3 2003
J 1988 T 1996 K4 2004
K 1989 V 1997
L 1990 W 1998

For example, in DT40CRSN the 'N' tells you the model year is 1992.

i know this is old but my serial numbers dont look like the ones you guys show, i have a DT150 and the only number is 810595 im guessing i was told its a 89 150 carberated with power tilt and trim, any help
