My motor is a 1996 9.9hp two stroke. I know the pee hole has some debris in it because it dribbles, and after trying to clean it with a small wire it pee's a fairly good stream. However, after a short while it begins to dribble again. There appears to be a small nipple under the cowling where it pee's from. Does anyone know if the nipple can be removed for better cleaning / flushing? I think the nipple acts as a restriction, thus not allowing the debris be completely flushed out. Thanks in advance for any responses. DuPont. By the way, I checked the impeller and it is in excellent condition.

Re: Suzuki 9.9 pee hole

I have a similar problem with my 9.9 Yamaha. I have taken the thermostat out and the water can be squirted into the chamber, and it comes out the intake tube, (lower unit removed) but I can't get it to come out of the pee hole... I suspect there is a clog between the cowling, and the power head..? Let me know if you figure this out.

Johndoe: I tried a lot of things, but what I ended up doing was to take a small drill bit, about the same size as the pee hole and simply spin it between my fingers; hoping to dislodge the debris. Then I went up one drill bit size and did the same thing. It took a bit more effort using just my fingers, but I opened up the hole just a little bit. Now the motor shoots a stream of water like a cow pi--ing on a flat rock and runs great! What I did is not likely to be recommended from others, but it worked for me. Good luck in your efforts. Re: Suzuki 9.9 pee hole

I was thinking about trying some long pipe cleaners... I used some small guage coated wire, and got it up the pee hole, but it came out clean... I don't know if I got it up there far enough.. I am seriously considering removing the cowling... but it may be more work than I am prepared to handle... As it stands now, I have two broken bolts that hold the t-stat cover on and broke a drill bit in one and an eazy out in the other... so for now it will just have to sit... I my have to buy a new cylinder head cover plate.../ Fairly expensive I imagine...

Sorry to hear of your troubles. If I knew more about outboards perhaps I could be of help, but my knowledge of them is somewhat limited. I see you are about 45 minutes away from where I live, so if there is any good news I could provide is that there are plenty of merchants who can help you out; provided that you are floating in money. Good luck. DuPont (Ken Haines)

Johndoe: I'm not sure how fond you are of your motor, but have you thought of a well placed hand grenade under the cowling?

Re: Suzuki 9.9 pee hole

There's a simple trick for cleaning any outboard tattletale. Run the engine on a hose and shoot compressed air into the pee hole, repeatedly, until it runs clean. If there is a hose from the powerhead to the pee hole fitting remove the hose and shoot air directly into it.

Good plan... I have a compressor and thought about that, but wasn't sure...

Question: there is a tube from the engine power head on port side going to the bottom of the cowling... I am not sure if it goes to the pee hole... It looks like it is just a drain hole or perhpas for some engine exhaust or sumthin... ??? Is this the tube you speak of?

Oh yea, DS.

I have considered the hand grenade, but the motor is so clean and in great condition, if I could just get this problem fixed... A motor of this type runs 2K - 4K... I think its a good investment to fix it... and no I don't have the nagging problem of floating in money...

Thanks!

Re: Suzuki 9.9 pee hole

Okay,
I tried the compressed air, and a lot of other things, but just didn't get the pee hole to cooperate. So I decided to pull the power head off to see what kind of crud was in there blocking this. It was relatively simple to pull off... Yamaha maks all the wires with quick disconnects plus I read the manual a couple of times first. Here is my verdict.
The water intake through the water tube enters the power head near the front. The Water output is near the rear of the power head. It mates to the secondary housing with an o-ring and the water goes out the secondary housing, but not out the pee hole? The pee hole is seperated from the exhaust chamber. The way that the secondary housing is set up, there is no way that water will EVER come out of the pee hole. What I thought was the pee hole, is just a hole leading into this rear secondary chamber...

Am I missing something here?? I will post pics this weekind if I can find time to get the camera working. Anyone with experience on this motor?? please help! I wanna put it back together but I fear ruining it with out proper water circulation. Is it possible that the water output is through the secondary housing and out... with no telltale? I know some outboards exhaust through the propeller or around it...? but I don't know about the water...

any help is appreciated!

I have a similar problem. No circ. through the telltale after a layup. The nipple on my 8 is part of the casing. I would have thought an ingenious design idea would be to mount this on a plate to allow access inside the power head & to flush...

I'm pretty sure from blowing down the pipe, that the water circuit is linked to the exhaust (low volume), but you should have a tell tale, I would say. Mine's bloody blocked as WELL!!!

Let's know how you get on. I only get out to mine once a fortnight..
