If you opened up the top vent plug and drained the old oil out from the bottom and filled it from the bottom until it came out the top and it took a quart then it takes a quart!!<br /><br />LubeDude
The 18.9 oz. is what is needed to properly lube the gearcase, Bundy. It wont fill it to overflowing. <br /><br />A full quart will bring it to overflow and provide the gearcase with about 13 oz. extra to help cool it and to allow leakage without catastrophe.<br /><br />Good luck.
