Suzuki DT15C cooling question

Hi,
I have a 1997 DT15C, I bought a motor flush adapter that screws into the
lower unit. When I attach a hose and apply water the water exits directly out
the intake. If I start and run the engine the flushing water never reaches and discharges out the upper discharge port. If I place the engine in a barrel and
submerge the lower unit the flow works fine. Why would it not pump the cooling
water through the engine from the flush port?

Re: Suzuki DT15C cooling question

From what I was told a flush adapter is mainly used for boats with outboards that are moored in salt water. Guys will flush their outboards with a hose with the motor off so salt water doesn't get back in.

I don't know if water is suppose to shoot out the tell tell or not when its running. Your impeller might not be getting adequate lubrication while running and only using the adapter so maybe the flush port is designed to only be used with the motor off.

It works when the outboard is in the water because the impeller is also pumping water into the motor.
