just bought a 1998 20 ft Grady White Overnighter with a 1996 Suzuki DT225 EFI. Problem: The check engine light comes on and off at all rpms and it cuts back the engine speed (power reduction mode?). I changed the Overheat sensor, changed the oil flow sensor (twice), changed the brand of two-stroke oil to a thinner one, changed the oil level sensor -- but still the same problem. Any ideas? I am desperate -- I want to get out on the Delaware Bay before the cold weather comes in...

Re: Suzuki DT225 Problems

We have suddenly had a rash of the Suzuki Qs in the other outboards section.
You will do much better in the Yamaha/Suzuki section.I know nothing about your Suzuki but you might check the fuel pump/oil pump if applicable.
It would appear you may actually have a weak oil supply. I would not run the motor or do premix until you solve the problem.

Re: Suzuki DT225 Problems

can you provide any more details of the symptoms?

I am wondering if you have a restriction from your remote oil tank to the engine mounted oil tank in that the engine oil tank gets low and the remote is not transferring it fast enough. could be a clogged filter on the remote oil tank... just a guess though.

can you provide any visuals when the alarm is going off? what is the oil level?
are the heads too hot to touch for more than 3s? could be an overheat.
what are the gauges indicating?
