Hello,

I got a silly-newbie question about my 2-stroke Suzuki DT25 (Model No:02503-132880).

Since acquiring it I have always started it via the usual way, connect it to a battery and pressing the start button.

It does have a cord on it but I cannot start the engine with it, no matter how many times I pull it. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to repair something in it?

I guess its a question I need to answer just in case I am ever stranded in the open sea with a battery problem!

You should easily be able to start it with the rope.
My 30 hp Suzuki starts in about 3 pulls cold and 1 pull when warmed up.

Make sure the bulb is pumped hard before starting.
Make sure the choke is fully closing.
Rebuild your carb.

Hi and thanks for the reply.

Yes, I do have the bulb is always pumped hard and the choke closed.
Regarding the carb, do you mean cleaning it up or playing around with the needle settings?

Is it possible that something in the electrics might need some repair/cleaning?

Your engine seems fine .... you need to have the ignition on when starting by rope .....
