Suzuki DT4 will not keep running

Here is a strange one - 1989 Suzuki 4 hp starts right up. runs fine, revs up, pumps water - it will runs for ten minutes then dies and will not start again, not even with starting fluid. After it sits for an hour starts right up and does the same thing. Carb has been cleaned, it has spark after it dies - very strange.

Does it not fire at all with starter fluid at that point, or fire but not stay running? If the latter, I'd check for a plugged fuel tank vent.

once it dies it will not even spudder with starting fluid - you can pull until your arm falls off - let it sit and hour starts first pull with fuel tank no starting fluid.
