suzuki dt40 pee hole again

hi just bought a dt 40 1985 when running i get loads of water from exhaust ports but not a trickle from the pee hole tried poking a piece of wire up but didnt help the pee hole is just bone dry spoken to previous owner who said he changed impellor 4 weeks ago but had not used engine since, what should i check first its been used in fresh water lake for the last 12 years.
Just ordered workshop book.

That is weird .... I would have thought the wire trick would work .... it could be that the impeller is not making enough pressure or there could be a blockage somewhere .... take out the thermostat and flush water down that hole .....

The 40's pee-hole exits from under the powerhead, and is susceptible to scale buildup. If you have a lot of discharge from the aft ports, I wouldn't worry about the pee hole.

scale buildup only appears when run in salt water .... this motor was run in fresh water .............

but yeah, my mech says that if water comes out the discharge holes you don't have to worry about the pee-hole ..... I would rather fix it for own piece of mind ......

try disconnecting the rubber "pee" pipe that connects to the power head and see if water comes out there .... try wiggling the wire in there as well .....

many thanks for replies yes it has loads of water pumping from exhuest holes will check out thermostat on the weekend.

You can try compressed air also but do it while the motor is running and in the water. Ear muffs dont cut it a lot of times. I had a similar problem with my 150hp and used a wire and no luck. I was rinsing the motor one day and had the air compressor out and cleared the line that way. not above 40 psi.
