Wow, and I *mean* flooding. Any ideas on what to look for out there?

Gas is pouring out of the center carb when starting. My guess is the float, but is there a *specific* piece to look for when tearing into the carb causing the problem. I've never done this on an outboard, but she's on her last legs anywho. Method of cleaning, etc.

Motor was not run for two years, and I fear some sort of varnishing. She'll start and run, but it's really pumping out gas.

Regards -

Howdy, Robtile.

I agree with your diagnosis. Stuck, sunk or broken float assembly.

Pull the carb, dismantle and examine the parts associated with the float. Then you will have clues on what to do next.

I know this gets to sound like a broken record, but get yourself a manual.

Good luck. :)

Thanks for the quick reply. Believe it or not I actually do have the manual (which will tell you how many times I've torn into the motor :) .

But, as you know - there is no subsitute for the qualified advice.

Thanks.
