Hey guys I am trying to change my impeller on a 88 suzuki dt65. My question is where does the shift linkage come apart. Is it under the carbs and then that whole rod goes with the leg or does this allow you to split it lower down? I have looked at the schematics for it but am still unsure. Is there anything I should watch out for? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It splits under the carbs like you assumed. The rubber plug comes out on the starboard side lower cover, and then the bolt through the shift arm/clutch rod comes out. Hint: buy one of those flexible head LED lights to see what you are doing. You will need it when it comes time to hook it back up !!

The Suzuki shop manual I have provides the same instructions as Bowhuntrrr.

It also shows driving the clutch connecting rod out with a small dead blow hammer and a drift punch through the starboard side access hole.

What has me reluctant to do my DT 50 impeller is ?If I have to drive out the connecting rod, how do I get it back in from the port side with no access hole?

Don?t forget to remove the hidden (inverted) bolt above the prop.

Let me know how it goes, I plan to take mine on this fall.

Good Luck

Thanks for your help guys I did it this weekend and it went without a hitch. Took it to the lake and ran well except for my tell tale keeps plugging up.
