i've been helping my friend with his boat and we are stumped. it runs great up to around 5000 rpms, but then after a minute or so of running like that, the motor just cuts out. if we pull back as it cuts out it will stay running. if it does stalls it always restarts and runs great under 5K. it's a very well maintained 2000 fuel injected suzuki 70 4-stroke. we've replaced the water separator, the plugs, the fuel bulb, the fuel line to the motor, and added stabilizer to the gas (ethanol is mixed with our gas here). I'm not sure what else we can do. the thing acts like it's been turned off at 5k. it seems like it's getting starved for fuel but it happens so abruptly (like a kill switch). could this be an injector issue? a fuel/water issue? a fuel pump issue? high pressure fuel pump(not even sure what that is)? could something be clogging the fuel supply? our next stop is going to be the repair shop (or a new artificial reef offshore if my buddy keeps getting frustrated). there's too much fishing left this year to let him sink the boat so i need help!! besides, it's a long swim back to the beach after that thing goes down. any help will be gretly appreciated! thanks.
