Suzuki oil change warning question

Can the oil change due warning put the motor in limp mode?

I was called out because the DF250 was sounding an alarm, had an oil pressure light and would not go to full power. Knowing it had an oil change last fall and the oil on the dipstick was full and clean, I performed the oil change light reset. The light and alarm went away but I didn’t take the boat out for a test drive because the wind was blowing strong and I don’t particularly enjoy slamming boats through big whitecaps or maneuvering that big pontoon in the tight area they keep it when it’s calm. Sitting here this evening, I am wondering if the boat is fully functioning again.

Oil pressure and oil life are not the same. I have heard of Suzuki outboards having oil pressure switch issues

No, not the same but run through the same computer and indicator. They are bad about ignoring engine alarms. No telling how many hours it was driven with it beeping and the light flashing. Turning on the key and cycling the kill switch shut off the warning light and the beep. I just don’t know if the motor would go into limp mode if the computer thought it was run a few hours past the oil change.

They usually bring me boats to service before they are overdue but I could never find a way to reset the alarm when the oil is actually changed unless it was sounding. I think if it is still in limp mode I will send them to a Suzuki shop. I have too much going on to be spending time on puzzles right now. I am also working on an airplane that suddenly refuses to build oil pressure. I’m pretty sure I will have to pass the buck on it too because it takes too much time to pull the accessory case fix (if it can be) and reassemble. At least that’s forties tech and easy to understand.

Unless there is an intermittent issue causing a coincidence, it appears the answer to my question is “yes”. The manager drove the boat this morning and let me know it ran fine.

I dunno if you Americans know but you guys are notorious for your extended oil change intervals 😁.....we joke about it , so Im thinkin that something like a limp mode that comes in to play after an oil change is missed is a very good thing .😃😃

I would think a owners manual or service manual for that motor would tell you how to reset the timer after an oil change.
Just like they do for automobiles.

It’s possible I missed something somewhere but the only instructions I could ever find only work when the alarm is sounding. 100 hours later, it sounds again no matter how many times you do the procedure before then.
