Suzuki tell tale hole fell out?

I have a 2006 suzuki DF140. First time out was last week. Ran the motor on the muffs and everything was fine, steady stream form the tell-tale (pee?) hole.

Later on the lake, I noticed no water coming out the side! I freaked a little, then got behind the boat and watched. Water was coming out the hole, but it looks as if the insert that diverts the water to the side (so you can see it from inside the boat) is missing. The hole is now about 3/4 inch wide, so instead of coming out in a stream it just dribbles down the back of the motor.

I called the dealer and they are pretty backed up with Memorial day coming up and can't get to it this week. I have planned a camping trip this weekend, and want to know if it is ok to run the motor this way. The service manager doesn't think this is a huge problem and I should be alright, but I'm looking for other opinions.

Anybody ever hear of this happening?

Thanks in advance

Go to an auto parts store. Purchase a piece of rubber hose slightely larger than your engine hose. Push it on - tape it off so it doesn't just fall off and go have fun. It's just gonna' be temporary, probably not look like the prettiest thing in the world but it will keep the water out of your engine box.

I'm gonna give this a little bump before I take off for the holiday. Other than not being able to see if the pump is going from inside the boat, anybody else see a problem here?
