I have a suz. dt140tc Will go down fine but doesn't alway trim up. Seems to work better in the water although will still stick sometimes. All I really hear is a click when I hit the trim on the motor or side of throttle.
Where should I start.
any help appreciated

I have 2 yamaha 225 1998, one of them is having the same problem, you can hear a clicking noise which means elec, is fine. hydraulic oil is low or empty. Im trying to locate the filler cap so I can refill, some say that will fix the problem. although if you have to fill, we must also have a leak.

Re: suzuki trim problem

The screw to refill the unit is located on the port side of the motor mounting plate. The top one is marked ''PTT fluid'', the lower one is your manual bleed screw.
Be careful when removing that screw as there is a small, rubber "O" ring that might fall off. Not a good thing to loose.
One cause for fluid leakage comes from the seals at the top of the trim cylinders themselves. When moving the motor up and down have a look at them - the leak will be very visible. :D

Re: suzuki trim problem

gc boat thank you for the instructions i did find all the screws. Ive put fluid in but still just have a clicking noise from the engine. Im not getting any noises from the unit itself. Would that mean my trim moter is shot?

Re: suzuki trim problem

Your trim motor is mounted together with your pistons. It's all one big happy family. I'd be more apt to think it would be a solenoid issue rather than your motor. Do some checking around for tightness and cleanliness of your electrical connections. Be surprised how a loose or corroded connection can raise all kinds of hell. :D

Re: suzuki trim problem

I made a mistake, my manual is for a 140 but I actually have a 115. I manually lifted the motor and could see everything. There appears to be the tank for fluid to the right with a large screw type cap mid way down the tank. When I loosened it some fluid came out rather rapidly. Could not find anything to bleed it. Everything appeared rather clean; no obvious leaks.
Any suggestions??
