Okay guys, I know this sounds a little out there, I unfortunately purchased a used V1500 prop thinking that it was the appropriate prop for my 1985 115 V4 Johnson. It was a marine flea market purchase and the seller was either confused or intentionally misled me. I am trying to go to a 15 pitch prop, which this is. When I got home, I attempted to mount this prop on my boat and noticed some slight difference from my omc prop. The prop has the same spline setup and the same diameter hub as my omc. The main difference I saw is that the hole in the plate on the inside of the prop has a hole that is a little too small to fit over the thrust nut.
So, I can mount the prop on the motor on top of the thrust nut that is there and it does mount. Can it be used this way, or should I attempt to drill out the hole so that it will fit over the thrust nut? Or should I just scrap the prop and start the search again?
Unfortunately, I don't have much money and can't really afford to purchase one new.
