Swap 1991 88spl lower onto 1995 112 spl.

It seems the only difference is a two piece driveshaft on a 1995 how do I determine if it's really a 1991 lower unit without disassembling it to see if the driveshaft is one or two piece? I was hoping to just put the 1991 unit on my 1995 motor. Are there any other differences or should I just look for a 92 to 98 lower unit that already has the two piece driveshaft?

There may be an issue at the spline end of the driveshaft.-----May result in jamming once bolts are tightened.------Post clear pictures of splines of the 2 lower units.-----Slight modification may need to be made.----Easy decision if parts were on my workbench.
