I picked up an '89 Johnson 50hp to swap powerheads with my bad one on my '93 50hp. I didn't realize til I got it home that the '89 has a different lower cover and cover mounting. My '93 is a two piece port and starboard, the '89 is a one piece. The front mounts are bolt on so they appear easy enough to change but the rear mounts are integral with the cylinder head. The only way to change them is to swap the heads. They use the same head gasket but the '89 is different looking. It looks like it has a removable inspection plate or something? over the head. Would there be any problems swapping these out?
Are there any other differences I should be aware of or concerned about?
Thank You!
