1993 27' Chaparral Signature w. 7.4 Carb'd Engine

Hello my fellow boaters.

My boat originally came w a B3. However, it blew up and I replaced it with what was available; a B1. Now I've found a replacement B3 and am going to swap the drives.

I just need a refresher on the differences. From what I recall, the only difference is the the B3 has a kind of crescent shaped "filler" sleeve in one of the trim ram mounts, right? Was that the front or rear pin that had that? Also, are the two metal pins identical otherwise between the two drives? Do they sell that plastic piece separately? Are there any other differences that I'm missing?

Thanks in advance. 😉

The celery stick that is its nickname depends on the year or better yet serial number of drive itself.
Gotcha and thank you!

Per a previous conversation w. a Merc Customer Svc Rep, here are the specs:

Serial Number: 0M134906
Manufactured: 06.04.2001
Ratio: 2.20:1

Looks to me that I can order the #30 you mentioned, and it should work based on my serial number, right? And the metal pins should work from the B1?

Yes that serial number would us the insert and same pin hardware. https://www.crowleymarine.com/sb/2/2543

Also if memory serves correctly, do you know if you are running a right-hand or left-hand bravo-1 propeller as there's a small change you may have to change the shift cable direction at the controller… this info can be found in an Mercruiser installation manual such as page 72 of the following guide that covers the Bravo drive as well, https://s6ca5bb3203b5f73d.jimconten...ine Engine Sterndrive Installation Manual.pdf

Mine is a single engine boat. If it's a single engine boat, shouldn't it be a left hand or counter-clockwise rotation? I don't know what that translates into for the propeller. Thanks for the info!!! Now I know what to keep my eyes on during the swap.
