Hi big fan of this site I don post much but I read a lot, many useful information...
My question is: is it possible to swap power head of 1977 35 hp evinrude 35703h with a good running power head from 35 hp johnosn j35elcig...
I do have manual for the johnson one to help out...
Any advice will be very appreciated TY

Do they both use the same base gasket?

The gasket between the power head and the exhaust housing, if they are the same there is a chance that they will interchange. Some other things need to ckecked to be sure.

The part # is different but from looking at diagram the 2 parts look like they are the same...
Does evinrude use a different way to catalog their parts??
Maybe because is much older numbers just changed??
I dont know if it helps I do have exhaust from the johnson too except the lower unit...

By looking at the parts breakdown for both engines it looks like the exhaust housing has a different part number also, don't think they will interchange. You could look in the "Top Secret File" sticky, there is a list of salvage yards there, give one of them a call and see if they have an interchange guide, maybe they can help you out.
