Swapping stators

I have a 1988 85 hp Force. 856XB. I would like to replace the 7 amp stator with one that produces more amps. I notice that the 1989 on up Force motors come with either a 9 amp or a 16 amp stator. Aside from the obvious changes and additions that would have to be made to the charging circuit, would either the 9 amp or 16 amp stator be able to mount where the oem 7 amp stator is mounted. If so, what other changes would have to be taken into consideration to use either of these stators? Such as flywheel replacement or ? Or, is there a better way to go about getting a higher output charging system.
