I am interested in adding a swim platform to my '93 20' Chapparal.

Looking for any suggestions from folks regarding which brands you use and how you like it.

Would also love some web links if you have them.

Thanks!

Re: Swim Platform suggestions

Sorry, don't know much about adding platforms as my last 2 boats both had them when purchased. However, i can tell you one thing, make sure that you get a really good swim ladder on the thing. A day of watersports or even swimming can tire you out quickly and a small / short ladder can be a realy pain if not almost impossible for some people to use. I just added a 4 step ladded to my boat that extends down about 44" in the water and it is night and day difference!!!

Thanks Bliner - I have heard good things about that company as well. They are very expensive though I think it will be almost 2k for the platform, crating and shipping. another $650 for installation once I receive it.

I was looking at this company as well. They are about $500 cheaper:

Not sure if anyone has used them or not.

I hear what you are saying Blue Crabber!

I will be going with the 4 step ladder regardless of who I order from.

I have two little kids and I want to make sure it is easy for me to help them in as well. That extra rung will help me with I am in the water with them lifting them up.

Re: Swim Platform suggestions

I can second the 4 step ladder...my Bayliner came with a two-step ladder, and it's still on there. It's not easy, but we manage...I can't imagine how nice it'd be with a 4-step!

I plan on adding a platform in the next two years, and think I'll probably spend the extra money for SwimPlatforms.com. They have a great reputation, and if I'm drilling additional holes into my hull, I want to make it worthwhile!

Re: Swim Platform suggestions

So I got a quote from swimplatforms.com. It is as follows:

platform: $1195
crating: $92
S&H: $146

it's dimensions are 82" x 27" and weighs approx 90lbs.

they have a 1-2 week lead time and I have a very good marine shop that say they can install it for 7 hours @ $95/hr. (not sure if this is high or not for installation). This shop specializes in installing platforms from swimplatforms.com so they are very experienced in this and I know they are a reputable shop (by the way this shop does all the fiberglass repair work for bass pro shop in the DFW area).

So I am looking at a total of $2098.

Think I am going to pull the trigger this week and see if I can get some use out of it this season!

I don't think it comes with a shamu! :(

Thanks to all for your suggestions and I will post some pics when done.
