Ok guys, I need some advice. My swim platform has rotted in a few areas. It is teak. A previous owner painted it and fixed some rot using PINE! (that must be why he painted it). Well, the paint must have trapped moisture and caused more rot. I stripped off some of the paint and stopped once I found more rot.<br /><br />Here are my options and I want to know what you'd do:<br /><br />1) Forget the platform and just use a removable ladder off the side<br /><br />2) Strip the rest of the paint, repair with teak and leave natural (may not look too good)<br /><br />3) Rebuild it from scratch out of teak using the old one as a model<br /><br />4) Make it out of fir, fiberglass and gelcoat it<br /><br />The platform measures 86" tapering to 82" long<br /> <br />It is 19" wide tapering to 17" (I want it 6" wider at least at the center)<br /> <br />The main pieces are about 2-5/8ths" wide and the gaps are about 1-1/8" They are straight pieces that run the length of the platform. 1-1/8th" pieces are used between them where the larger support pieces are underneath.<br /> <br />Construction is simple - there are 5" - 6" wide pieces on the bottom perpendicular to the length of the platform everywhere you see no gaps in the platform.<br /><br />What would you do?<br /><br />Here are pics of the transom and platform<br /><br />
