Means "NO"

OK, that's the place to start. If it is not up to par, there is no "tune" item you can do to make it run right.

Re: Switch box question

So I got a question. I went to rapid share and downloaded the file and it comes up as a .rar file? So what program do you need to open it with? Thanks

Re: Switch box question

got it. Did a search on the net, downloaded IZArc. So is there a rapid share for a 1979 I-6 90hp:D. I have a manual I get around with alright, but I like the looks of this one. Thanks.

Re: Switch box question

Well problem continues......
Today I checked compression 1 2 and 3 cyl =115, 4 = 110.
I dont have the parts yet to make the dva adaptor so I wasn't able to do dva tests on the stator or trigger but I did a cyl drop test
removing all but cyl 2 would kill engine.
Checked mercury switch, rectifier and stop wire.
Engine is running very rough and hard to start even though spark is at all cyls.
Stator resistance is within specs Blue=5710, red=152 as is the trigger
resistance of purple=859,brown=847 and no grds on the white ,purple, brown, black.
Hope to call CDI tuesday ,may just replace the switch box.
Bad guess????

Re: Switch box question

What did you end up doing? Did it turn out to e the switchbox? Personally i would pop for the 7 bucks or so to build the DVA adapter as if it wasnt bad then you have spent money you didn't have to. A resistance test is absolutely usless unless you just happen to show open circuit. Just my opinion though as i just hate to see things done the hard way.

Re: Switch box question

I did end up building a dva adaptor.
After going through all the tests everthing checked out ok.
Took the carbs apart for the second time also.
I then put her back in the water and everything worked fine.
Now I 'm not sure what the problem was.Maybe a bad connection?
Will be going up north for a week of fishing soon so hopefully no more problems, but will be putting a kicker on just in case.
