last night we test ran the motor in a barrel to check tell-tail for water movment to see if we needed a new water pump well the stream is steady flow on a idle but not no great fire hose but was steady ......well it was dark had cover off i could see the mounting screws on switch box arking against the block good 1/4 blue bolt of lightning needless to say it caught me eye .....is the switch box suposed to be grounded .......could this just be loose hard to tell because the guy I got it from just changed it and striped the heads of the 4 screws :rolleyes: got a feeling if i touch them SNAP! drill and tap time any ideas??????? (type 4 ign. manual start)

The power pack is indeed supposed to be grounded.<br /><br />There should be an external ground that you are to run. Have a look for a black wire.<br /><br />Also...any thru prop exhaust engine should not be run in a barrel as the exhaust can block the water from comming though the intake and damage your impeller.<br /><br />The MD

realy didnt know i had a trough the prop exhaust so how do i test run the motor without hauling it to a lake?

Best do it NOW... Bad grounds are a number one cause of powerpac (switchbox) failure!! Dont run it till you fix it!
