Good morning from rainy New Brunswick: we're awaiting the great salmon any day now ... (at least we hope)

The problem: Somebody broke into my camp and lifted the only key I had to my 40HP Johnson, (see details above).
The local dealer sold me a 4-prong switch, where the old-one was a 5-prong. Any ideas how to re-wire this thing ?
Prongs are labeled: S, C, A, M, B
The wires, as far as I can see: one purple with white stripe, one solid black,
one yellow/red stripe, one double wire purple, one red / black stripe (fire ?),
one double black and yellow ...
It ain't easy to find qualified help in this here neck of the wood. If you can help me, you're sure to get some (Atlantic) salmon fishing at my Miramichi camp. Much obliged in New Brunswick, John Stucki

You wouldn't have had to replace the switch. Get the code letter off the switch and get a new key from the dealer. What were the letters on the terminals of the old switch? A=accessories (powers gauges when the key is in the run position). S=starter solenoid (energizes the starter solenoid). B=battery (+12 volts from the battery via the engine harness). M=magneto (shorts the magneto to ground to stop the engine). C=choke (activates the choke when the key is pushed in when in the run or start position). You need to identify which wire corresponds. Use a process of elimination. Find wires you can identify by looking. Follow one of the dangling wires to the gauges. It goes on the A terminal. You now have four to deal with. Use a test light or voltmeter to check each wire for 12 volts. When you find it it will likely be red - it goes to the B terminal. Check the wire color at the starter solenoid on the engine. It should be the same color at the switch. It goes to the S terminal.
