I had a guy tell me that since I have intermitten spark/weak spark on #1 cyl. that my switchbox is most likely bad. He says they go bad alot. Anyone else think thats right?

Re: Switchbox question

I believe you can switch the wires for the trigger and coil between #1 and #2 cylinders on the switchbox itself to see if the problem moves. Might be able to prevent yourself from spending unnecessary funds.

Re: Switchbox question

i tried to do that but it backfired once and I didn't try again. I have read on here that backfiring is bad for the diaphram. It may be backfiring because the timing is off too because apparently I have tried to set my timing with an intermitten spark on #1. Kinda hard to do huh!?

Re: Switchbox question

Yes backfiring is not something that you want to happen. Are you sure you got the trigger wires and the wire between the coil and switchbox swapped? You also have to swap the sparkplug wires too. It should work. Just be sure to mark the wires before you do anything so you can get it back to "normal" again.

Re: Switchbox question

Yeah i figured out what i was doing wrong. I just switched the green and green/white wire on the switch box. that didnt do anything but mess up the firing order! So i switched coils between #1 and #2 and still had the weak/intermitten spark on #1, so...I found a good used switch box on ebay for $100 or theres a place in Indy that has one for the same price! Thanks for the help!!
