I changed out all the wires and put on a new switchbox to replace the ragged looking mercury original (small holes in the rubber surrounding box). Took it out to lake and it took about 3 seconds to crank up (yay). It idled and ran very very smoothly. I thought it was running smoothly before the change, but I can tell a big difference. I reached 5000 rpms @ 50 mph and came out of the hole better and as I said ran very smooth. I believe I may have been wrong about my top end from 5 yrs ago being 60 mph...must have been my bad memory or wishful thinking
. I do think I'm overpropped with the 12.75 x 21 so I'm going to get another prop and use this one as a back up. I'm looking to go down to a 19p but there are so many different diameters to choose from, I'm not sure which would be the best. I'm looking at a 14.5 x 19, 14 x 19, and 13 x 19. Any ideas on best bet? And thanks again for all the assistance.
