Hi, It looks like I am going to have to purchase a stator and switch pack set for a mercury 150 xr2 outboard. I have seen different ones / different prices. CDI is a common manufacturer of course.

I have seen Stators for as low as $170 at amazon and boatersplus.com (http://www.boatersplus.com/cdi-elect...saAi4xEALw_wcB)

Also CDI switchpacks from ems global direct for $60.00 each. https://www.amazon.com/Outboard-332-...words=114-7778

Any opinions on this approach to find good prices or the brands mentioned?

Also do these stators come with enough wire length to reach rectifier, switchpacks, etc?

The motor is 30 years old so maybe not a ton of life left on it.

Thanks in advance

Hard to go wrong with Amazon, CDI has a lot dealers, I agree with you, this is the beat approach for good prices, on the best brand CDI.
I would be very surprised if the wire was to short, you could solder and shrink tube if needed.
Have you tested the stator and switch packs, CDI explains how on there web site,
E-bay has used ignition parts.

I didn't know amazon had used outboard parts, maybe I do live under a rock, thanks for that tip.
Have you tested the stator and switch pack with a multi meter like you tube and cdi electronics.com to make sure there bad before you throw $ at it?

I did test the stator and it was definitely out of spec. It seems like the impedance was low on both stator leads but really low on the side that wasnt firing. DVA voltage readings where also low but much lower on the side that had lower impedance.

I didnt really test the switch packs but when I moved the stator leads from the front switchpack to the back, etc the motor would not fire. Im guessing that indicates a switchpack that is also bad or one that couldnt handle the lower voltage. Is there another good way to test the switchpacks?
