Swivel jack location?

The easiest is the floor jack idea. If the trailer jack is long enough you can weld or bolt another piece of square tubing to top of tongue and raise the jack. Lot of work for an oil change now and then, but cheap fix.

Re: Swivel jack location?

There are no spinning shafts, no spinning "knuckle" joints, no twirling gears or other apparatus (save for maybe the cooling water impeller, if LU mounted) spinning in the outdrive housing when in neutral gear.

Running the engine, in neutral, while the outdrive is slightly elevated is not a problem.

Let your tongue down as far as you can and lower the outdrive down as much as you can....about 1" above the pavement. Get in the boat, check the skeg to make sure it's not touching the pavement and fire up the engine.

Just don't put it in gear and spin the prop.

slide it forward not back and it might drop enough or have a local fab shop weld a plate with support on top to mount the jack

Use the floor jack but locate the jack not at the end of the tongue but back where the side frames meet the tongue (area under your spare tire) when your tongue is completely on the ground this area will still be probably 6" or more off the pavement.

I do agree though that you probably dont have to worry so much about having the engine down 100%.

Now, why didn't I think of putting the jack back farther??!?! Thanks.

This should give you the additional drop you need.

Sorry about that. It looked OK on my computer but not after I posted it.

I recommended moving the the jack back as far as possible towards the winch post. Also move the lower bolts on the jacks mounting plate to the bottom holes . That will allow the jack to move up an inch or so. Then cut a piece of wood to fit between the top mounting bolts and the top of the trailer tongue to fill in the gap the will now be on the top.

How much room is there to move jack towards hitch , seems to me the farther forward the lower it would go, I can't tell from pic's

Boat is a few miles away but as I recall there is at least a foot if not more. Will try moving it forward...thanks.
