Hello, I have a 1997 Seaswirl 2600 Striper with the Volvo penta 5.7 tbi engine with the sx outdrive. I would like to get a duoprop on it, I hear they drive better and get better fuel economy. I don't have the gear ratio info or model #. My boat is in San Quintin Baja Mexico. Would anybody know the cost, where can I find a used one, would it actually be worth the trouble and expense...etc... Any help will be appreciated.

I would not want a drive without duoprop. You just have to swap out the lower.

Just so you know, they are expensive. Set of new props are around $1400 and that was a few years ago. Not sure if you would ever break even on fuel costs.

So I guess it won't be worth the 1400 bucks, sounds like the 1400 bucks don't even cover the outdrive itself, I guess if I found a good used one it might have props on it.

You will need to look at the DP-SM drives. Your best bet would be to sell your SX drive (if its good working condition) and try and pick up a DP-SM. I would estimate you are looking at about $2000-3000 upgrade cost, which includes the Prop set.

The install is about as easy as removing one drive and swapping on the DP-SM. The DP-SM and SX share the exact same upper unit so I don't think any hardware needs to change.

Not going to be worth it for saving fuel but well worth it in everything else. Easier to plane, easier to maneuver.
