GOt my SX Smart Tabs in the mail yesterday. I got the sit for the 20' Boat with up to 250hp (Mine is 20'4" OAL with a 220hp Engine). Looks pretty easy to install. Still need to get over drilling holes in the hull of a boat with 18 hours on it.

measure, then remeasure, then double check, drill, 3m 4200 is a must to seal the holes.

Make sure you chamfer the holes to reduce gel coat cracking.

Is there anything else I can do to prevent this?

Also, do the holes have to go all the way through?

The screws for the plate hinge if like the ones on the stainless steel set I have will not go all the way thru, the screws for the upper actuator mounts did go all the way thru, material not as thick on the bell where they went in, your 06 I think has a different transom set up than mine so you may not. See photos below.

I have a much different Transom set up.

Also, the SC Tabs attach a bit differently. Same concept though.

Yours looks flat all the way across so mounting should not be a problem, swim platform should not be in the way.
