Synchronization Question

I have a 1996 Evinrude 90 and was planning on rebuilding my carbs. I have read that I would need to do a synchronization afterwards. I ordered a manual and it says I need a $300 ignition tester to do this. Is there another way to do it or should I just pay a dealer to have it done? Does anyone know the average cost of having a synch done?

Re: Synchronization Question

A reputable shop shouldn't charge more than say an hours labor to snchronize your engines carb and timing linkage.

Re: Synchronization Question

Thanks for the response, an hours labor seems like alot better deal than buying the ignition test kit. I guess sometimes it is just best to let someone else work on it.
