Synthetic Oil

Hi,

I have a Johnson 140hp 4 stroke 2 years old. Over here the Evinrude synthetic oil is a horrific $120 per gallon.

Since i'm a high hours user during the summer I am changing oil every week.

Do any of you guys know if I can use another good quality synth oil? eg Mobil 1 is half the price over here of Evinrude synth.

Mobil 1 is a fine oil for 4 strokes and many use it with great results. I would have no problem using it..

I would look at the oil spec in your owner's manual and use whatever oil meets that spec.

I used Mobil 1 in my Suzuki DF70 with excellent results. I wouldn't hesitate to use it in the Johnson 140 4 stroke.

Heck yes. I use Mobil 1 in my Goldwing.

Didn't Suzuki build those 140HP 4 stroke engines for BRP/Johnson?

Yup. OMC did build the 8, 9.9 and 15 4 strokes in the 90s, but all 40HP and up Johnson and Evinrude 4 strokes are Suzis in different dresses.
