synthetic oil

hi to all,i was just wondering whether using PENRITE,semi synthetic gear oil is a good thing to b using in my 78 35hp,or stick to what im using,which is SIERRA premium quality.I wld also like to no its characteristics and why so many people regard it as a surpreme lubricant,any thoughts or no how wld be greatly appreciated.......CHEERS:cool:

they all have to meet certain standards, lower unit, any 80-90 lower unit oil is fine. as far as fuel oil mix, as long as it is rated TC-W3 outboard oil, it meets the standards. i have been using Walmarts Super Tech brand oils for all my motors. synthetic oil, does smoke less, and is less polluting

PENRITE oil is rated at 75-90,you said 80-90 am i doing the wrong thing.

Is it marine gear oil? If so, it's fine. If not, you need to get marine geqar oil, not automotive stuff.
