t stat on johnson

help .I have 73 model johnson 65hp stinger.I know I should have a manual,but don;t have one yet. where is the t-stat to be located on the motor and what causes water to come out of hole where the shift linkage comes through the lower unit.promise to get manual soon.<br /> <br /> thanks wannahitthelakesoon
