T-Stat & Poppet Upgrade Kit For Optimax

Having a problem with occasional overheat at various conditions on my 2000 Optimax 150. In the process of replacing impeller and poppet. I have been reading about an upgrade kit Mercury provides for this problem that changes the hose routing to the T Stats and a different Poppet valve with a by pass hole. Is this true and if so where can I get this kit?

If your 2000 has the original impeller and you are happy with how your pee tube is working, you might want to wait on the replumbing until you get the impeller fixed. What it looks like when you get it out may speak volumes. That's 13 years on an impeller and even for me (lazy) that's a long time.

Replumbing the pee tube isn't going to affect anything from an OT standpoint, and the hole in the poppet isn't all that big of a deal anyway as the water flow through it is a trickle and the stat usually has one anyway. The two valves are in parallel. However, if you are not happy with your pee performance currently, then I can help you reroute if you don't find answers elsewhere.
