T/T Switch Problem

Picked up a complete "01 Johnson 50 motor today. It came with an internal side mount remote unit with an intergral T/T switch. I currently have a binnacle mount with no provision for a switch (previous motor was manual tilt). I cannot use the new control on my center console. Can I simply connect the three wires from the wiring harness to a momentary switch on the console? Thanks as always.

I will be changing over everthing but the remote. They gave me every piece. I have never seen such a complete used package. I will be left in the end with the triangular plug at the console that would plug into the remote if I could use it, but I can't. I would like to place a switch next to the binnacle using a spare that is the same as used on the lower cowling. Is this possible?
