Is anybody using a Ipad or Android tablet for nautical gps or charting or any other boat use?

Re: Tablet use on inflatable

I don't like taking any kind of non-water resistant electronics out on the boat. Any boat. For portable navigation I use a older water resistant hand held E Trex Garmin in it's own little waterproof pouch. If I had to absolutely use a Ipad, or computer I would store it in one of those waterproof pouches and stick a few absorbent silica gels. The silica doesn't last very long either.

On a few expeditions - we had Mac and IBM PC's die due to constant humidity after two-three weeks at sea. Big bummer considering we had them in things like Ziploc bags, or computer cases. Even near the dry heaters.
