Tach and Rectifier question

I replaced original amp with new CDI amp that has no tach support. They say to connect tach wire to yellow stator wire.

I have NOS tach that supports 12p and it does not move the needle when running.

Tested rectifier and showed bad.

The question is if I disconnect the rectifier will the tach still function(for testing), or do I need a functioning rectifier to have the tach read correctly?

Re: Tach and Rectifier question

The tachometer is driven by the charging system and not the ignition system.---So yes the rectifier needs to be in the circuit,

Re: Tach and Rectifier question

Connect the gray tach wire to one of the yellow stator wires once and see what happens.
