Not sure what controller you have, but may be like this:

OMC Ignition sw overallSwitch.jpg

Voltmeter may be connected to purple (+) and black (-).

Re: tach and volts hook up?

ok, so i need to pull the control box apart and splice into those wires for the volts. Also i saw the other diagram in the FAQ area, and it looks like there is a plug for the tach wiring. is there a special plug for this or do i just do the same thing and splice into the wiring from the inside. Thanks

Re: tach and volts hook up?

1995 is the change year from one plug style to the next....you PROBABLY have the big red plug.. what year is your control???

I have an post 95 control.. and it has a big 8 pin plug for the systems check tach... BUT it ALSO has a loose grey wire for a tach as well..in case i wasnt using the systems check tach, and it has a seperate purple wire hanging loose as well..

sooo tell uis what control you have

that is more important to your question, than what motor you have.

Re: tach and volts hook up?

If you have any other gauges on this boat, +12 volts, ground, and the light connection can be obtained at the +12 volt, groujnd and light connection on any of the other gauges. Same for +12 volts, ground, and the light in the tach. Only the "S" (send) terminal needs to be connected to the tach wire.

You DO NOT have to pull the control box apart and create more problems. Look at the control box right below the key. Do you see a three terminal plug there? Yes = thats the tach hook up. No = look for a loose gray wire OUTSIDE the control box but probably tucked behind the panel. THAT is the tach wire.
