tach cutting out or not working????

I've noticed that my tach has been cutting out then coming back on the then this morn it was off then after I hit the throttle came back on I'm running a 1190 Johnson Fastrike J150GLEIS thanks in advance what to check or just replace tach I can get a used one for $25 shipped to my door

Check the three pin plug at the motor controller and the terminations on the back of the tach for security.
