tach for 150 evinrude

can any body tell me how to install tach for a 1988 evinrude outboard 150hp
boat dont have one now would like to have one

You will need a marine type tach. You should have a short wiring pigtail dangling from the control box. That harness and plug is for the tach. Grey is signal, black ground, and the red/pink is hot. Set the tach at 6.

Looks like:
Purple = switched 12vdc
grey = tach sense
black = grd
