Not sure then Parrot. Don't want to give you bad info. All of my literature on Suzuki says yellow wire in control box. If it isn't there, wait for someone who has firsthand knowledge on the engine.

Re: tach hookup?...30 horse

hello
when I get home next week I will double check. I am going from memory here. if your motor is a manual start then it has no rectifier and no baterry. it does or should have a lighting coil. you will need a battery and a rectifier to provide the green wire tach send signal from the lighting coil, you will need a switchable yellow (key on) 12v positive and a grond for normal tach operations. there are some that are 12v and inductive pickup. just be aware that you still need a 12v power source. why do you need a tach on a tiller 30 with manual start? is this just for propping/maint reasons or is it a desire to have another toy onboard?
for maint and propping I have a ferret instruments digital 2/4 stroke with an advance feature that is also an inductive tach. super instrument. my only complaint with it is it wont flash if its dark.
good luck and keep posting

I installed a rectifier kit on it that I got from yamaha. I use it to help charge the trolling motor battery. Which works fairly well. Doesn't completely charge the battery, but helps and will run the running lights when the battery is dead. another gadget and for maintenance reasons...rpm is an important thing to moniter. The boat is modified and just want to know the rpms. it is a Faria universal outboard tach with hourmeter.

hello
here again I dont have my service guide.
I think your 30 has a 6 pole lighting coil. one of the green wires from your rectifier (doesnt matter which) will be the tach S or send wire. the 12 positive can com from the battery you will just need a way to turn it off, the ground can come from the battery as well. the 12v positive can also come from the red terminal at the rectifier but I think the battery end would make for less voltage spikes.
so now ya have the complete circuit.
I will try to remember to check for the pole selector when I get home.
good luck and keep posting

It does have a 6 pole coil. The rectifier ha 2 green wires comming off of it. 1 of them has an extra lead comming off of it so that will make hooking it up easy. Now just have to wait till the UPS guy gets here!!...oh yea...and the lakes to thaw out!!! Thanks for the help!!
